Yeah, I'm Good

Yesterday, all the future soldiers in my battalion got together for a battalion function. In all, there were about 300 future soldiers that showed up. We had some competitions between our five companies. Some of the competitions were: push-ups, sit-ups, volleyball, "grenade" toss, and tap-out drill and ceremonies.

The only event that I competed in was the tap-out drill and ceremonies event. Everyone who was there had to at least try, but that was the one event where I knew I could do well. Out of all 300 future soldiers who started, I finished in a tie for third. I glad that I did as well as I did, however I should have done better after three+ years in AFJROTC. The order of commands that I was eliminated on were as follows; "present arms", "group attention". For those who don't understand what that means, I'll explain. "Present arms" tells the soldier to salute. The only command that can follow "present arms" is "order arms", and that tells the soldier to lower the salute and resume the position of attention. So, when the group commander said "group attention", i started to lower my salute and that is what eliminated me.

That was the highlight of the battalion function for me. Not much else to report right now.

What's Going On?

I know that I have not posted in a long time. I have my reasons and I will not go into them. However I am back now.

What is up with me now? I've enlisted into the Army. I leave in early January for basic training at the historic Ft. Benning, GA. My MOS(Military Occupational Specialty) or job in the Army is 15P Aviation Operation Specialist. I get to start with a perk over most people who join the Army. I spent a little over three years in my first high schools AFJROTC(Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps). Because of time in that class, I start at the pay grade E-3 Private First Class. I don't know where my first post is going to be, but if I have a choice in what regiment I join, I would like to join the 160th Special Operation Aviation Regiment (Airborne). The 160th is also known as the "Night Stalkers." I am going to talk to my recruiter tomorrow to see if we make that happen.

That is about it for right now. Most likely I'll be posting quite a bit over my last three weeks before I leave. I would appreciate any feedback or important information anyone has for me.

Baseball

I will say it upfront right now. I am an Arizona Diamondbacks fan. No matter how much trash talk i get, and believe me I'm used to it living near so many Dodger fans(sick), I don't care. I will probably write about my views on baseball a lot and i enjoy hearing others no matter how wrong they are. *(If you haven't discovered yet, I can be very sarcastic)*.

To bring in the season properly, my friend who is a hard core Angel fan has invited me to the Angels' home opener against the Rangers. I'm not really an Angel fan or even an American League fan. However he is my friend and I have to deal with it and who am I to complain, I'm going to the Angels' home opener for free. I'll put my biased thoughts aside and cheer on his Angels. So hear it goes:

I'm Here Now

This is my first post and that is all it will be. I will post anything that I want to and no one can do anything about it. Hahaha. I hope you enjoy my thoughts on whatever and if you don't, let me know. I enjoy having arguments.
